Another important initiative the Ministry of Tourism undertook was during the pandemic, it revisited the guidelines for the recognition of the tourism stakeholders and in Dec 2020, it launched the revised guidelines for tourism service providers.
So the highlight is there were so many categories of operators earlier, now it is reduced to only 3 categories…
1) is the Green shoots or start-ups, number
2) is the experienced tour operators and number.
3) is the tourist transport operators. Green shoot is another important feature, wherein anyone without an experience, because today many people are coming up with brilliant ideas using technology etc. To support them, we don’t have any threshold in terms of returns etc. They are allowed to get recognition as Green shoot category. Similarly, the guidelines are also relaxed in a major way with an aim of bringing ease of doing business and the requirements have also been reduced drastically.
